How to lock your computer by using a USB drive

How can we lock our computer by using a USB drive? It is possible and can be done by a freeware called Log Monitor!

Log Monitor is a freeware that has many usages. I try to go to the author page but i can’t understand the language, but i think most probably the author is a Russian. After playing with this application, i found that it can actually lock our computer and prevent others to login. The theory behind this is very simple. It keep monitoring your USB flash drive, once the file being monitored changed, or you remove the USB flash drive, this application will immediately lock your computer. If you remove your USB flash drive and the login to your computer, this application will immediately lock your computer again. Unless you hold the USB flash drive, else you can’t access that computer.

Step 1
You need to create a .log file in your USB flash drive. The file name can be anything and you can left your content blank. But, my advise is try to type something and make sure no people can get this file. I had create an example log file and will provide the download address at the end of this article.

Step 2
Go to Monitoring and choose Add File:

Now, choose the log file that you created, and change the Do Action’s option to If the file has been changed. Please check the Perform action if monitored file does not exist so that this application can lock your computer when you unplug your USB flash drive.

After that, switch to Options tab and set the interval to 1 second. This means Log Monitor will keep pulling each 1 second. If you think that this will affect your computer speed, you can set this value to higher.

Step 3
Now, go to Actions tab and choose New -> Execute Program. Fill in the parametes below:

Command: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe
Parameters: user32.dll,LockWorkStation
Start in: C:\Windows\system32

Step 4
This is the final step. Go back to the main page and choose Options -> Program Options. At the General tab, check Minimize on start if you want Log Monitor minimize to system try when startup. Next, check the Start on user logon. Be careful, remember to make 1 copy of your log file if you check this. After you check this option, Log Monitor will automatically launch after you login. If you lost the log file, means you can’t control your computer anymore. After everything done, save the settings to your system and try unplug your USB. Your computer will be locked immediately!

Create Desktop Shortcut To Launch Chrome In Incognito Mode By Default

The Incognito mode of Google Chrome browser allows you to browse the Internet without leaving any tracing of your browsing history on the computer – none of URLs you visited are recorded, cookies and cache are deleted once the browser is closed.
The general way of launching Chrome in Incognito mode is to launch Chrome in normal mode, click on Tools icon and select New incognito window or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + N. I hate this method as it’s a lengthy process and also I’ve to close the first browser window which is opened in normal mode. Now lets looks at launching Chrome by default in Incognito Mode with help of a desktop shortcut

1) Create copy of Google Chrome Shortcut on your desktop (either by copy & pasting your existing desktop shortcut or by right clicking on the chrome icon available in Start Menu and choosing the option Send To -> Desktop)

2) Rename the new Chrome shortcut to “Google Chrome – Incognito” for differentiating the normal Google Chrome shortcut with Incognito mode shortcut

3) Right click on the Incognito mode short cut and select Properties

4) Navigate to Target textbox and append -incognito the the existing command text(note that there should be at least one space between chrome.exe & -incognito)

5) Click on OK to save the changes.
Your shortcut to launch Google Chrome in Incognito mode by default is ready! From now onwards you can use this short and browse the net without any traces of your browsing habits on the computer

1. Select the Folder or the file you want to password protect. Just right click on it and select “Add to archive“.

2. Now in the window that opens, just navigate to “Advanced” and in that click on “Set password“.

3. Now you can set the password as per your need. If you want more security, you should just check the option to “encrypt file names” too. This will make even the file names encrypted making your files and folders more secure.

As far as this encryption and password safety is concerned, its too difficult to break it anyway. You can not open it until you use the correct password. If you forgot the password , then in no way the file or folder can be opened. Just a remote possibility if you used a dictionary word as password, then may be by using a dictionary brute force hack, you can get it otherwise not.

How to sign in multiple gmail account using IE8

It's simple and no need other software but just Internet Explorer 8

Internet Explorer provide the user have normal surfing or private browsing. Normal surfing will save all the cookies or temporary files inside your computer until you manually remove it from your computer. Whereas the private browsing is allow the user to anonymous surfing the net without storing any cookies/Temporary files in the computer. It will auto remove the cookies or whatever the user had browsed when the user close the private browsing window.

Therefore, normal surfing and private browsing is using two different profiles and in the sense that allow you to sign in multiple gmail account using IE8.

First, sign in your primary gmail account using normal browsing. Then, open a private browsing window ( Ctrl + Shit + P), you can now log in to your secondary gmail account.

This trick applied to google browser "Chrome" also ..but not firefox :(

How to disable administrative share in NT/W2K/XP/2003

Every Windows NT/W2K/XP/2003 machine automatically creates a share for each drive on the system. These shares are hidden, but available with full control to domain administrators. The drive letter, followed by the $ sign is the name, and it is shared from the root. When trying to attain a highly secure network, you may wish to address this potential security issue by disabling these shares, or at least restricting their permissions to specific users or services.

An example of default administrative share in XP

show the current share folder - net view
show other computer share folder - net view \\ip

You can remove the default share by using the command net share sharename /del to delete particular share folder. However, this method will allow the default share re-created when the computer restart. Therefore, we need to do something to the system registry. First, please backup your system registry before we change it. (Start > Run > regedit )

For Servers

For NT 4.0/W2K/Windows Server 2003s, the change is:

Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters Name: AutoShareServer
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0

Idiot proof note: If you can't find the value in the registry under the exact location (i.e. it does not exist) - please right click in the right pane of the window and create it.

Sometimes we might have some secret folder that you want it prohibited access by others. There are so many software available which include shareware or freeware. However, shareware can cost you a lot for just simply purchase a small program, freeware you may encounter problem like hard to use and etc.

Therefore, I would like to share out my secret of how to lock and unlock folder using command prompt/batch file.

To lock the folder
move the lock.bat file to the folder you wan lock, let assume one case.
you got two folder name MyFolder1 and MyFolder2 in the F:\testing ,you would like to lock the folder MyFolder1, then you just copy the lock.bat to the F:\testing, after that just click the lock.bat to run, you will see the folder change to the icon as shown in the picture above. :)

To unlock the folder
move the unlock.bat file to the folder you wan lock, let assume one case.
you got two folder name MyFolder1 and MyFolder2 in the F:\testing ,you would like to unlock the folder MyFolder1, then you just copy the unlock.bat to the F:\testing, after that just click the unlock.bat to run, you will see the folder change back to the normal folder icon :)

Keycounter provides a way of keeping track of when you've been active on your PC during the day. It does pretty much what it says - counts the number of keystrokes you make every minute and records that information, along with whether the mouse has moved.

How to use it?
Put "keycounter.exe" and "count20.dll" into a directory, and run the exe.

Over every 24 hours the program is running, the graph will be automatically
updated, once a minute. It details the number of keys pressed per minutes
(in red), and whether the mouse was moved (in blue). The start and end times
are also displayed.

A file will be written containing details of both of these, and will have a
.key extension. These files can then be examined by chosing History from the
task-tray menu. Click on any to view the data from that day.

It is a handy software that wont affect your daily life when using your computer as it will hide itself on the taskbar. Beside that, it takes up only few memory when run in the background. If you need to monitor your own pc activities like keyboard or mouse usage, then why not try key counter :)?

Unlike other virtual desktop utilities that implement their desktops by showing the windows that are active on a desktop and hiding the rest, Sysinternals Desktops uses a Windows desktop object for each desktop. ControlPad turns the numeric keypad on your keyboard to a Windows command execution system.

You may configure any numeric code to: Execute any program, open any document, open any web address or send any series of keystrokes to the operating system.

Once ControlPad is running, press and hold the * key on the numeric keypad, for about 1 second. At this point, a small window will pop up, allowing you to enter any keyword or numeric code.

Pressing the code followed by Enter will execute the associated command.

如何利用Marxio Timer来自行启动迅雷或下载工具

1 – 选取 Run program

你可以选择任何的一个硬碟分区，或者是文件夹。

选择了硬碟分区后，你会发现所有文件都一目了然，现在你可以知道那些文件或文件夹占了你电脑的空间。除此之外，你还可以点击进入更详细的文件列表。SpaceSniffer也提供了直接删除功能：即你在SpaceSniffer发现你想删除的文件，你可以直接点击右键然后删除。

它也可以显示你硬碟还可以用的空间+未知空间。

它也支持同时分析多个硬碟分区。以上的例子为：C:\ and E:\

softwareandi是一个发布及讨论免费软件的部落。在人类的生活中，电脑的出现造就了更简单的生活体验。很多复杂的工作因为有了电脑而变得非常轻松。

然而电脑只是一个空壳，提供一个平台，真正需要的是软件的协助。基于这样的出发点，softwareandi专注在发布免费软件 – 一些可以让生活很轻松但是小巧的软件。

在让大家认识更多的软件之余，softwareandi也会负责测试所发布在部落的软件，并且会把测试后的结果及过程，详细的发布在部落方便读者的参考及应用。

如何成为softwareandi的发布会员

如果你有兴趣成为softwareandi的发布会员，请联系softwareandi@live.com。
但请注意，申请者必须拥有以下的条件：

1）拥有一架私人电脑，并却安装了虚拟机软件（如：VMware, VirtualBox, MS VirtualPC）作为工作平台。
2）必须具备普通的电脑常识，如：懂得安装软件，懂得使用虚拟软件等。
3）每个星期至少发布三种不同分类或同分类的软件，详细请参阅软件发布格式说明。

所有申请者，将会通过三个月的验证。只要经过三个月的验证，成功成为softwareandi的发布者，将会获得softwareandi的广告盈利（详情将会附属在正式发布者合约里）。
